Here's a rare EML 500 from the mid 1970s that came in partially functioning, and had some broken faders. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a service manual! I was able to source the plastic Stackpole faders that were broken, or not properly functioning. Replaced two transistors to fix sustain. Fixed some mechanical problems with keyboard, and used red thread covers + heat shrink to replace the missing fader knobs. Recapped power supply. Cleaned key contacts. Adjusted oscillators for scaling. Cleaned all panel controls. Tightened interconnect wires on PCBs.
Apparently, the EML 500 (not this particular one, I don't think!) was used a lot by DEVO. It was used to make the Whip sound on Whip It, and all the fun synth noises on Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA.
